Magnolia & Gene lived in the community of Greenwood on Deaux road (present day Lassitter road). They rented a house from Clyde Deaux about 1924. It was located on property which later became an airfield for the US Navy (NOLF Summerdale). The land was very flat and good for farming so they farmed it until the Navy took it over in the mid 1940's.Many families were forced to relocate because of the airfield. Gene & Magnolia found 50 acres of land 2 miles to the East on highway 38 where they built a house and continued to raise their family of 7 children.
