a nonprofit organization

Our mission is...

1. To discover, collect, procure, preserve, publish, enjoy and diffuse whatever may relate to, but not limited to, the national, civil, social, literary, cultural, economic, educational and political history of Baldwin County, Alabama.

2. To encourage people throughout the USA to affiliate themselves with us to collect, and preserve letters, documents, photographs, art work, books, records, artifacts and all types of memorabilia from their local areas.

One of our organization's task is to collect and preserve local history, then make it available to people who want to study and otherwise enjoy it. You may access our collections by clicking on the Museum & Archive link. This archive list only Baldwin County, Al history. If you would like to research our collections for other counties around the USA click the CountyExpress.org link.

These Archives are designed so that the work of scanning and uploading files may be accomplished much faster because our users do the work. All we do is offer them a place to put it. Our History Committee then screens each file for placement into the permanent archives. Once there, it becomes available so that anyone may make comments and add their own point of view. Our organizations job is to monitor the activity of our users and to improve the quality of the history collected.

Another of our organization's task is to promote interest in local history. We are doing this by making history exciting and fun. Our organizations theme is very exciting and very fun. Our Mascot is the 4-4-0 steam locomotive pictured above. As a matter of fact everything we do is train themed. Our money is called "Track Layer Miles". Our membership levels are Hobos, Passengers, Porters, Conductors and Engineers. Even our home office is called the Train Depot. We are even building and expect to operate a life size steam locomotive & train that operates on the highway. It will look very similar to the one pictured above. You may see our progress by looking in the Museum & Archive. It is affectionately called the Baldwin County Express. This unit will be used in our annual Baldwin County parade. It is also designed to be a major fundraising tool for use at other events and functions around the county and the USA.
